BookX allows you to collect a refundable security deposit for your services to protect against damages, no-shows, or misuse.
Once enabled, the security deposit is automatically applied to all active payment methods for that service.
How to Enable Refundable security deposit for your service
- Go to the Services page and select your preferred service.
- Then, go to the Payment & Deposit page.
- Under Deposits, enable Refundable security deposit.
- Optionally, change the name and label for the deposit.
- Enter the deposit amount for the service.
- If needed, update the deposit name and label shown to customers.
- Add the terms and conditions explaining when and how the deposit will be refunded or used.
- If the deposit should increase based on the customer's selected quantity, enable Apply security deposit based on selected quantity.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
Quantity-based deposit calculation
When Apply security deposit based on selected quantity is enabled, BookX calculates the deposit as:
Deposit per item × Selected quantity = Total security deposit
For example:
- Deposit per item: 300
- Quantity selected: 2
- Total deposit: 600
How to refund the deposit amount
If you wish to provide a refund of the deposit amount, navigate to the Orders section of Shopify and choose the respective order number. Alternatively, within the BookX app's Booking section, choose the booking and click on the booking number — you will be redirected to the corresponding Shopify order. From the Shopify order, you can fully or partially refund the deposit amount.
Notes:
- Only fixed amounts can be used as deposits.
- Once a security deposit is enabled, it will be applied to all enabled payment methods for that service.
