You can now allow customers to pay only a part of the service cost upfront when booking through BookX and complete the remaining payment later. This is made possible by integrating Dibs with your BookX service setup.
Requirements for the integration to work:
- Your service must be linked to a product in BookX.
- The payment preference must be set to Pay while booking in BookX.
- The same product must also be selected in the Dibs setup.
- You must choose Preorder (not Backorder) in Dibs for partial payment.
- Availability and quantity limits must be disabled in the Dibs setup.
Step 1: Configure your service in BookX
Requirement:
- Your service must be linked to a Shopify product.
1. Go to the Services page in the BookX app.
2. Select an existing service or click Create Service to add a new one.

3. If creating a new service:

- Enter the service name
- Link a product to the service
Note: Partial payment can only be enabled for services linked to products.
4. Choose your service type and configure slots (i.e, Regular, Full-day, Multi-day, or Bundle booking).

5. Add block-out slots if needed.

6. On the Availability Settings > Payment Preferences. Select the Pay while booking option.

7. Adjust any other Availability Settings as needed.
8. Add a location and team members if needed.

9. Go to the Review & Publish tab, review your setup, and click the Publish & Review in Store button.

Step 2: Set partial payments in Dibs
Requirements:
- The product linked to your BookX service must be selected here as well.
- You must select Preorder as the plan category.
1. From the BookX dashboard, install the Dibs app.

2. Open the Dibs app and click the Get started button.

3. Enter the same name as your BookX service and select the Preorder as your plan category.

Note: Backorder is inventory-based and cannot be used for partial payments.
4. Select the same product used in your BookX service.

5. Ensure both the Availability schedule and Quantity limits are disabled.

6. In the Shipping schedule, choose Ship immediately.

7. Enable the partial payment option and enter a name for the plan.

8. Choose the initial deposit format:
- Percentage (e.g., 5%)
- Fixed amount (e.g., $10)

9. Set the balance payment schedule:
- Exact due date: Choose a calendar date
- No. of days from checkout: Set number of days, e.g., 10 days after booking

11. Optionally, enable Payment discount and set the discount amount as a percentage or a fixed amount.

12. Click Create to make the plan live.

13. Enable Dibs in the theme editor and click View in store and verify the partial payment option appears on the product page.
Customize display labels
If you’d like to rename the Preorder badge to something more relevant (e.g., Pay deposit now):
1. Once you create the plan, click on the Storefront Customization section.

2. Update the badge label and click the Save button.

Enable payment due email reminders
Enable payment due email reminders to ensure customers remember to complete the remaining payment.
1. Go to Dibs > Customize > Edit on Notifications.

2. Enable the payment due, early reminder, and follow up emails based on your preference.

Note: Click the pencil icon to edit the email content as per your preference.
3. Click the Save button.
