Ask Sidekick about BookX

You can now ask Sidekick about BookX right inside your Shopify admin. Type your question, and Sidekick answers.

What is Shopify Sidekick?

Sidekick is Shopify's built-in AI assistant. Instead of searching through menus and screens, you ask a question about your store and get an answer in seconds.

With BookX connected, you can ask Sidekick about your schedule and bookings, customers, open slots, setup, integrations, customer emails, plan and booking problems.

For example:

  • Why isn’t the booking widget showing on my product page?
  • How many booking slots are available this Saturday?

Sidekick checks the relevant information from BookX and provides an answer based on your store's configuration.

Try it now

Open Sidekick and type: “What appointments do I have today?”

That’s it. You’ll see today’s bookings, with a button to open each one.

What can I ask?

Just ask like you’d ask a teammate:

  • “Who’s coming in today?” to see your schedule for up to 7 days.
  • “Find John’s booking.” to search by name, email, phone or order number.
  • “Is Saturday afternoon free?” to see the same open slots your customers see.
  • “Is my Google Calendar connected?” to check your setup.
  • “How do I block a holiday?” to get quick steps from the help center.
  • “What plan am I on?” to see what’s included.

If customers can’t book, Ask Sidekick.

Tell Sidekick what you’re seeing, in plain words. It checks your setup, tells you the most likely cause, and gives you a button to fix it.

Share a product link or order number so it knows where to look.

  • No slots showing?

Ask: “No slots are showing for the facial service. Why?”

  • Widget missing on the product page?

Ask: “The booking widget isn’t showing on my product page.”

  • Customer can’t add the booking to the cart?

Ask: “Why can't customers add the booking to the cart.”

  • Slot booked more than allowed?

Ask: “Order #1055 got booked into a slot that was already full. How?”

  • Customer paid but there’s no booking?

Ask: “A customer paid on #1061 but I don’t see the booking.”

  • Say exactly what you see. The more specific you are, the better the answer.

What you can do with Sidekick?

  1. Check today’s schedule

Want to know who’s coming in? Ask Sidekick. You can check one person, one location, or your whole team, up to 7 days ahead.

  • “What appointments do I have today?”
  • “Is anything booked on Saturday, including cancelled bookings?”

You can also ask for a follow-up, like “Which of these haven’t paid yet?”

  1. Help a customer who called or emailed you

Find their booking using whatever they gave you: name, email, phone number, order number or product. You can also narrow it down by date, status, service, team member or location.

  • “Find BookX bookings for john@example.com.”
  • “Find all cancelled bookings from last month.”

Once you find it, ask more about that booking or customer:

  • “Give me the details of order #1042.”

You’ll see the date, time, service, contact details, team member, location, status, payment status, form answers and notes.

  • “Has the customer on #1042 paid in full?”

Sidekick tells you if they’ve paid in full, or how much is still due.

  • “What’s the Zoom link for that booking?”

You’ll get the Google Meet or Zoom link, or a note that there isn’t one.

  • “How often does Jane Smith cancel or reschedule?”

You’ll see total bookings, cancellations and reschedules, and other details.

If the booking was free or added by you manually, Sidekick will tell you there’s no Shopify order or payment linked to it.

  1. Find availability when a customers asks you

Sidekick shows the same open slots your customers see on your booking widget. So you can answer on the phone or email quickly without opening your store.

  • “Is there space for a massage tomorrow afternoon?”
  • “When is the next available haircut?”
  • “When can Sarah next take a facial at Downtown?”

Good to know:

  • You can paste a product link instead of typing the service name.
  • If a service has a limit, you’ll see how many spots are left.
  • If a day has no slots, Sidekick tells you why, like a blocked date, a Google Calendar event, or a booking notice period.
  • For the next available slot, Sidekick looks up to 3 months ahead. If nothing is open, it offers to explain why.

  1. Check how BookX is set up

See how your services, team members, locations, integrations and customer emails are set up, without clicking through each one. For a service, Sidekick gives you an overview of its setup in one place.

  • "Tell me about the haircut service."

You get an overview of the service: its length, capacity, team members, locations, slot interval, working hours, lead time and buffer, with a card to open the service.

  • "What are Sarah's working hours? Is her Google Calendar connected?"

You get her hours, capacity and calendar status.

  • "Are my BookX integrations working?"

Sidekick lists anything that needs action first, such as a calendar to reconnect, then everything that is working.

  • "Which booking emails do customers get?"

You see whether confirmation, rescheduled and cancelled emails are on or off.

  • "Do I have reminder emails set up?"

You get each reminder with when it's sent, who gets it and which services it covers.

Note:

Sidekick checks Google Calendar, Zoom, Klaviyo, webhooks, Shopify Flow, Shopify POS and checkout validation. Checkout validation must be on for customers to be required to pick a slot at checkout.

You can also ask about a location or whether customers can cancel or reschedule themselves.

  1. Learn how to set something up

Ask a how-to question. Sidekick sums up the answer from the BookX help center in a few steps. Answers come from the BookX help center.

  • "How do I block out a holiday?"
  • "How do I connect Google Calendar?"
  • "How do I set up a deposit?"

For features that depend on your plan, such as deposits, Sidekick also tells you whether your plan includes them. If there's no help article for your question, Sidekick points you to the help center and the support options.

  1. Check my plan

See what your plan includes, how much of each limit you have used, and what another plan adds.

  • "What plan am I on?"
  • "Are deposits included in my plan?"
  • "What do I get if I move to a higher plan?"

Limitations of Sidekick

Sidekick can't create, change or cancel bookings, and it can't touch your settings or plan. When something needs changing, click the button in the answer and do it in BookX.

The only exception is a theme fix. Sidekick can offer to make it, and you review it first.

It's AI, so it can get things wrong. If a suggestion doesn't match what you see, tell it, or check with us.

To get the most from it:

  • Describe what you actually see.

Say exactly what is and isn't working, so Sidekick checks the right thing.

  • Check a suggestion against your store before you act on it.

Sidekick shows what it checked and where to fix it, so you can confirm it yourself.

  • Tell Sidekick if it doesn't match.

If a suggestion doesn't fit what you see, say so and ask again.

Contact BookX support if the problem remains or you're not sure a suggestion is right.

Still stuck?

If Sidekick can't answer your question, or you simply prefer a person, say so: "I want to talk to someone." You get three choices:

  • Live chat (fastest)
  • Book a call
  • Email bookx@logbase.io (replies in 12 to 24 hours)

How to get better answers

  • Ask one thing at a time. One clear question gets a more accurate answer than several at once. Ask follow-ups to go further.
  • Mention "BookX" in your question. Sidekick can usually tell you mean BookX, but naming the app gives more accurate results. For example, "my BookX bookings for tomorrow".
  • Use an email address to find the right customer. It is the most reliable way when two customers share a name.
  • Narrow a long answer with a date, a person or a place, such as "tomorrow", "for Sarah" or "at Downtown".
  • Ask a follow-up if an answer seems incomplete.
  • Dates and times follow your store's time zone. "Morning" means before 12 PM, "afternoon" means 12 PM to 5 PM, and "evening" means after 5 PM.

Common questions

  1. Can Sidekick cancel or change a booking, or change my plan?

No. It can’t change bookings, settings or plans. Use the card in the answer to open the booking or page in BookX and make the change there. The one exception is a theme change that Sidekick offers to make for your review.

  1. Can Sidekick be wrong?

Yes. Sidekick can make mistakes, including suggesting steps for a problem that isn’t there. Check its suggestions against what you see in your store, and contact BookX support if you’re unsure.

  1. Why did Sidekick show only some of my results?

Very long answers are shortened. Sidekick shows up to 25 matching bookings in a search and up to 7 days in a schedule or availability check. It tells you how many weren’t listed. Add a date, person or location to narrow it.

  1. Sidekick said it can’t find something. Is that an error?

Not necessarily. Sidekick says so when nothing matches, and suggests what to try, such as another spelling, a wider date range, or an email or order number. It never guesses or makes up bookings, prices or features.

  1. Sidekick says it couldn’t reach BookX.

Wait a moment and ask again. If it keeps happening, contact BookX support.
